Objective
Desmoche belongs to the group of Rummy card games and comes with its own set of distinct rules. The game is played with a standard 52 card deck. Similar to other rummy games players are required to discard all their cards by making melds which are sequences of 3 or more cards in same suit, or group of 3 or 4 cards of same rank.
Setup
PLAYER - At the begining each player is dealt nine cards. The players can see their own cards.
STOCK - After dealing cards to the players remaining cards are set aside forming a stock pile.
WASTE - An empty waste pile.
MELD AREA - Three emply piles for each player which can be used to create melds. Players must use their own designated meld areas for creating melds.
Gameplay
- Cards are ranked from Ace to King sequence being A 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 J Q K.
- The game begins with following steps in sequence:
- Card Exchange - At the begining player must pick one card from his/her hand and exchange it with the other player (bot).
- First Discard - One card from the stock pile is drawn to the waste pile and player gets a chance to pick this card provided it can be immediately used to create a meld. If its not possible to create a meld immediately, next player (bot) gets a chance to pick this card and create a meld immediately. If no player can use the card to make a meld immediately, game moves to the next step (or normal play). If a player can user the card to immediately make a meld, he/she must discard one card to the waste pile in exchange.
- Nomral Play - Game moves to normal play after first two steps.
- The sequence of each player turn in normal play is as follows:
- To start a turn player picks one top card either from the waste pile which is face-up or from the stock pile which is face-down.
- After picking one card player can now put cards in his/her meld area if a meld can be created.
- Player can conclude his/her turn by discarding one card face-up onto the waste pile.
This sequnece is followed by each player until one player has no card left.

Cards can be discarded by the player in one of the following ways:
- Melding - Place 3 or more cards either in same suit sequence or a group of same rank cards in one of the empty meld piles of the player.
- Laying off - Add one or more cards to an existing meld if it follows the same sequence for a sequence meld (same-suit), or same rank for a group meld (same-rank).
- Discarding - Discard one card to the waste pile to conclude current turn and pass the turn to the next player.
- Any number of melds can be created in one turn. Similarly any number of cards can be laid off in one turn.
- If player picks a card from the waste pile, it can only be discarded in the next turn.
- Player can only layoff a card in his/her own meld and not in other player's melds.
- At all time during the game player has 9 cards including his/her hand and all melds created by him/her.
- The game finishes when player has used 10 cards to create melds which can happen only after player has picked one card from the stock or waste pile and before discarding a card to the waste pile.
- Once all cards from the stock pile are finished, all cards in the waste pile except the top card are moved to the stock pile without shuffling.
- Player is allowed to take the cards back from his/her meld to the cards in hand anytime to use those cards in creating other melds (which is called Desmoche the game is named after). Player can take a card from his/her meld and use it to create another meld provided the previous meld still remains a valid meld.
The game ends as soon as any player has used 10 cards in his/sher melds.
Controls
- Double click a card in your meld to move all cards from that meld back to your hand.
- Single click stock or waste pile to take a card.
- Drag and drop cards to meld area or waste pile to play.
