Objective
The aim of Crescent Solitaire is to move all cards to the eight foundation piles. The game is played using two standard 52-card decks. Four foundation piles are to be built up from Ace to King while the remaining four foundation piles are to be built down from King to Ace.
Setup
FOUNDATION - At the begining four foundation piles are dealt Aces of four different suits and remaining four foundation piles are dealt Kings of four different suits.
CRESCENT/TABLEAU - After dealing cards to the foundation piles remaining 96 cards are dealt in 16 piles of 6 cards each which are arranged in such a way to resemble a crescent. Only top card of each of the 16 crescent (or tableau) piles is available for play.
Gameplay
- Only the top card in the the crescent/tableau piles is available for play.
- Cards from the crescent/tableau piles can be played onto either the foundation piles or other crescent/tableau piles.
- Cards can be played by suit to the crescent/tableau piles if it is one rank higher or one rank lower than the top card in the crescent/tableau pile.
- Cards can roll in the crescent/tableau piles which means an Ace can be played on top of a King and a King can be played on top of an Ace.
- Foundation piles which contain Aces are played by suit in ascending order (Ace to King).
- Foundation piles which contain Kings are played by suit in descending order (King to Ace).
- Card from the foundation piles are allowed to be played to other foundation piles or the crescent/tableau piles. Only the base cards of the foundation piles which were dealt at the begining of the game are not allowed to be moved.
- Empty pile in the tableau can not be filled with any card.
- There is a redeal option which moves bottom card from each crescent/tableau pile to the top. Sequence of other cards are not changed. A total of 3 redeals are allowed in the game.
The game is won once all cards are moved onto the foundation piles.
