Demons and Thieves Solitaire

Demons and Thieves is a two-deck solitaire game which combines game play of Canfield and Forty Thieves.

RESERVE - 13 cards are dealt face-down to a reserve pile. The top card of reserve pile is turned face up.

FOUNDATION - Eight foundation piles. First foundation pile is dealt a card which acts as the lead rank for the game.

TABLEAU - 9 Tableau piles. First 4 tableau piles are dealt one card each and remaining 5 tableau piles are dealt 8 cards each face-up.

STOCK - After dealing cards to the reserve, foundation, and tableau, remaining cards are set aside forming a stock pile.

WASTE - An empty waste pile.

  • The first foundation pile is dealt a card which acts as the lead rank. Remaining 7 piles must start from the same rank.
  • Foundation piles are built up by suit starting from the lead rank to the rank one below the lead rank, wrapping from King to Ace if required.
  • Tableau is divided into two parts. In first 4 piles (or first part), cards are played in descending order, alternate colors wrapping from Ace to King if required. In remaining 5 piles (or second part), cards are played in descending order by suit wrapping from Ace to King if required.
  • Group of cards can be moved together between tableau piles if it follows legal move for that pile. An empty pile in the tableau can be filled with any card or a sequence of cards.
  • Top card from the reserve pile can be played to the foundation or, the tableau. Whenever a card is moved from the reserve pile, face-down top card of the reserve pile is turned face up.
  • Player can click on the stock pile anytime which deals 1 card face-up onto the waste pile. 2 redeals are allowed.
  • Top card from the waste pile can be played to the tableau or foundation piles.

The game ends once all cards are moved to the foundation piles.

  • Drag and drop cards between two piles.
  • Click top card in the stock pile to draw card to the waste pile.
  • Double click card in the waste pile or, reserve pile or, any of the tableau piles to automatically move the card (which checks first for a move to foundation and then to tableau).
