Objective
Napoleon's Square Solitaire is a variant of Forty Thieves Solitaire. The objective of Napoleon's Square Solitaire is to move all cards from the tableau to the foundations. The game is played using two standard 52-card decks.
Setup
TABLEAU - At the begining player is dealt 4 cards each into 12 piles. This set of piles is known as the tableau. All cards in the tableau are turned face-up.
STOCK - After dealing cards to the tableau, remaining cards are set aside forming a stock pile.
WASTE - An empty waste pile.
FOUNDATION - Eight empty foundation piles.
Gameplay
- On the tableau, cards are played in descending order, same suit.
- Top card or, a group of in-sequenece cards can be moved beteeen two tableau piles (This is different from forty thieves solitaire where only top card can be played).
- An empty pile in tableau can be filled with any card or, a group of in-sequenece cards.
- Player can click on the stock pile anytime which deals 1 card face-up onto the waste pile. Redeal is not allowed.
- Foundation piles can contain cards starting from Ace so as Aces become available, it can be placed in one of the foundation piles. Cards of the same suit can then be played on each Ace in ascending order, from low (2) to high (King).
- Top card from the waste pile is allowed to be moved to the tableau or, the foundation.
- Top card from the foundation is not allowed to be moved back to the waste pile or any of the tableau piles.
The game ends once all cards are moved onto the foundation piles.
Controls
- Drag and drop cards between piles.
- Click top card in the stock pile to draw card to the waste pile.
- Double click card in the waste pile or, any of the tableau piles to automatically move to the foundation.
